Recruiting Housekeepers is one of the most difficult recruiting challenges facing Senior living communities nationwide.
Hotels, hospitals, healthcare facilities and property management companies are all going after good housekeepers.
So how can you as a leader in senior living differentiate YOUR community as an employer of choice for the housekeepers in your area?
ADVERTISE BETTER
Running stale, old internal job descriptions on job boards is largely a waste of time. They typically do not speak to the person who is reading it. And many times, those old job descriptions only frustrate the candidate and create an initial bad feeling.
Remember, your job advertisement is often the first experience a person has with your company. So, it is worth your time to make sure it’s effective.
What do housekeeping candidates want to see BEFORE they apply to your Job Ad?
They want to know the pay. Always include the pay and include any benefits or perks.
They want to know the hours. What days and hours are the shifts? Is the schedule flexible? Do they get weekends off? Two consecutive days off?
They want to know your specific location. Don’t assume everyone knows where your community is located. Be specific in your job ad. Are you on the bus route? Are you near the airport? What side of town?
Most candidates will only read your Job Ad for 5 to 10 seconds. Put the critical items above right at the top to grab their attention. Then you can add some things about the culture, and what makes your community unique.
