Choosing the right senior living community is stressful. Moving out of their home that they’ve spent years invested in is no easy feat. While it’s crucial for most, nobody wants to feel trapped in a community they’re uncomfortable in.

That’s why you need to know what seniors are looking at when they are searching for a long-term health facility. As much as you want new leads, it’s even more important that your residents are satisfied with their living situation.

So, what are some things seniors are looking for?

1. Staffing

It’s no surprise that aside from the residents, caretakers are the heart of senior living. The employees are a crucial aspect of what makes a senior living community a home. Understaffed facilities have a disadvantage since they will be unable to provide the best care to seniors. With everything happening in the world, the last thing you want to do it thinly spread out staff members. Seniors are looking for consistency and quality.

2. Activities

Residents should never get bored when they have a variety of life-enriching activities! Find ways to make community life fun by offering classes, hosting events, offering workshops, or planning scheduled trips to local attractions. These offerings should be placed at the forefront of your website and marketing collateral.

3. Services

It’s advisable to offer tours of your community that can let residents get a better sense of the culture. Different communities will offer different accommodations and amenities that need to be clarified during the sales process. Certain residents will require medical care, while others are going to want security in knowing that they have easy access to health professionals if necessary. Will they be able to stay throughout their retirement or will they be forced to relocate to a nursing facility?

4. Pets

A large percentage of seniors are looking for a facility that has pet-friendly policies. Pets are great companions, and most aren’t willing to sacrifice their pet for a specific community. Senior Living Facilities are supposed to serve as their home. Whether or not your community allows them will be a deciding factor in their moving decision.

5. Food

Nutrition is a huge deciding factor for most. Seniors will want to know their choices, the versatility of their meal options and the dining hours. Are residents forced to eat in a dining room? Do they have open hours? What are your meal plans for those with restrictive diets? These are all questions that should be answered on your website.
