INSIGHTS

Companies who invest in hiring the right people, have maximized returns. At JDI our goal is to help you build a passionate team that ignites growth within your company.

For over a decade, human resource professionals for the hotel/hospitality industry have headed to the National HR in Hospitality Conference to become equipped with powerful, essential guidance tailored to the unique challenges they face every day. Well, that time of the year is here again, but this time it’s taking place between Monday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 27. And, in case you needed more motivation, the conference is being hosted this year by the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Presented by the Hotel and ILR Schools of Cornell University, HR in Hospitality will offer you six must-see plenaries, 20 sessions on HR and Law as well as 46 renowned speakers. Whether it’s “Women in Leadership,” “How Technology is Transforming Hiring,” “Pay Equity,” or “Union and Management Relations,” the HR in Hospitality Conference has plenty to offer everyone in the short time you and your colleagues will get to spend together.

Top Experts in the Hospitality Industry

What else will HR in Hospitality provide that another HR conference won’t? With this conference, you get:

  • Proven human resource strategies from hotel/hospitality firms of any size and scope.
  • Crucial advice from veteran attorneys with expertise on the specifics of hospitality employment and labor law.
  • Leading experts and their thoughts regarding the hottest issues affecting the hospitality industry today.
  • More than can be fit on one page!

You’ll hear from top industry professionals from a variety of hospitality firms, including, for example, Morgan Harduk of ZipRecruiter, Mark Blankenship of Jack in the Box, Michael D’Angelo of Hyatt, Ilse Harley of Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Lisa Ferrier of Momofuku, and Jake Basham of Loews Hotels.

A Team Effort

You are only one person, and with as much as this conference has to offer, your organization would be well-served to have an entire team at the event. The best way to ensure you get all the guidance HR in Hospitality has to offer is by bringing every member of your HR team. Your entire department benefits from your team attending because they will all:

  • Learn to properly respond to legal concerns, thereby avoiding expensive and possibly devastating lawsuits.
  • Gain customized guidance for their particular responsibilities in collaborative discussion sessions.
  • Network with human resource professionals who are facing the same challenges.

As an added incentive to bring more people, the expo is offering a significant discount for group reservations.

Luxury Location

Right in the Las Vegas Strip, the luxury resort casino and hotel that is the Cosmopolitan is perfect for HR in Hospitality. At the Cosmopolitan, you get:

  • One-of-a-kind, top-tier restaurants featuring debuts of internationally-renowned Las Vegas chefs.
  • Stylish design and art as well as a vibrant nightlife that captures the imagination and excites cultural sensibilities.
  • Carefully selected boutiques, the Pool District, a 100,000-sq. ft. casino, and the serene Sahra Spa that will complete a treasured luxury experience.

Important Note: Some expo travel agencies are falsely characterizing themselves as the conference’s “housing vendors” and are contacting people in the conference’s community to solicit business. Specifically, they’ll offer to reserve hotel spots on your behalf in the conference’s block or even offer discounts. However, the HR in Hospitality Conference isn’t using housing services, and you should make reservations either with the Cosmopolitan directly or through your own booking agent/service.

Hotel Reservations

There is a new dedicated website for booking hotel rooms, and you can make reservations on the General Attendee Passkey website: https://book.passkey.com/go/SLRPO9. The conference rate is $259 for a single or double as well as taxes (there will also be a $30 daily resort fee plus the taxes that will be included when you check in). As a registrant, you are responsible for own reservations, so be sure to contact the Cosmopolitan directly, identify as a registrant for HR in Hospitality, and look up the hotel’s advance deposit and cancellation policies.

If you plan to reserve 10 or more rooms, you may have to sign a contract with the hotel. If you need an ADA-friendly room, then you should make your reservations as soon as possible and make your needs known to the hotel immediately.
