INSIGHTS

Companies who invest in hiring the right people, have maximized returns. At JDI our goal is to help you build a passionate team that ignites growth within your company.

Charles Cho, the General Manager of Newport Beach Marriott Bayview, knew that every day they remained open meant extra hours for his associates.

“My priority is always people first. I care about my associates more than anything,” said Charles.

Charles has taken many measures to support his team and community over the past few weeks. One of the first things he realized, was the importance of the meals they offered their associates. These are often the best meals workers get. Knowing this, management enhanced the quality of their food and even kept the cafeteria open to those laid off.

Charles has also maintained active communication with his staff members, sending out weekly emails to his internal staff.

Communication didn’t stop there though, in order to bring up the spirits of the surrounding community, his team used the guest room lights to illuminate a heart on their building. A friendly reminder that everyone is in this together. This action brought many incoming emails of praise and appreciation. In addition, Charles took extra steps in order to continue generating revenue, including working out a partnership with a rental car company to lease out their parking lot for their fleet of vehicles.

While this time has been very difficult for Charles and his associates, his Mogul story is one of hope and optimism. We thank Charles for the positivity he’s provided. We certainly feel inspired to fight another day! Newport Beach Marriott Bayview has the #1 Associate Satisfaction score for all Marriott’s in the Southwest Region thanks to management’s tenacious efforts to fight for their team.
