INSIGHTS

Companies who invest in hiring the right people, have maximized returns. At JDI our goal is to help you build a passionate team that ignites growth within your company.

Scott Brewton, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Pinehurst, has found ways to be positive and productive regardless of the circumstances. Due to the current economic climate, Scott’s role was restructured and like many others, he’s waiting to re-enter the workforce.

Not wanting to sit idly by while the world is on lockdown, Scott has been seeking out ways to give back to the community.

“First thing we can all do is check on your neighbors regularly, as people’s situations can change quickly,” said Scott.

He also checked in with his church to see who needed help. He discovered that his local Meals on Wheels organization had lost their production kitchen due to the virus. They typically deliver around 80 meals a day to Seniors. During a time where seniors are considered vulnerable, this service is desperately needed.

Because of this, Scott has been volunteering his time to helping them find alternative ways to prepare their meals. Local churches, restaurants and community members have come together to help. Every Monday, Scott and members of his church have been preparing meals for those in need.

Many local (and national) nonprofits have been struggling to meet clients’ needs as the coronavirus has forced mass layoffs and closures. Many organizations are facing increased demand, all while being forced to cancel crucial operations. Most non-profits are welcoming donations and/or volunteers.

“The best recipe to feel better is to help someone else,” said Scott.

Thank you, Scott for leading by example and giving back to the community during a time of crisis.

If you’re also looking for some ways to give back, here are a few ways you can do so:

Meals on Wheels: You can donate to their COVID-19 Response Fund to provide local programs the resources they need.

Feeding America: You can donate to help food banks respond to COVID-19. Food banks and pantries across the country are continuing to ensure the most vulnerable neighbors have the food they need.

America’s Blood Centers: You can schedule an appointment to make a blood donation in your area.

Boys & Girls Club: You can donate here to raise funds to provide groceries to kids participating in its more than 2,500 clubs.
