INSIGHTS

Companies who invest in hiring the right people, have maximized returns. At JDI our goal is to help you build a passionate team that ignites growth within your company.

Our lives move fast. With three daughters under 5 years old, and as the Founder and Managing Partner of a fast-growing business; life sprints for me. I generally start my day by asking God for the passion, energy and focus required to do my job(s) well, and then it’s off to the races!

We’re entering a slowdown as businesses, schools, hotels and restaurants are closed. Our flooded highways are now wide open as most of the country is working from home. Was life a sprint and now it’s a marathon, or has life always been a marathon and this is what it took to see it?

I want to share 8 marathon preparation principles that will help prepare you for the road ahead, which, for many, involves remote work, less revenue-generating opportunities, and an uncertain forecast:

1. Invest in the right gear

You need good shoes for running. In the same way, ensure you have the proper business technology to be productive, while also having a setting that allows you to focus.

2. Embrace the climb

Running up hills builds stamina and strength. Many are facing an uphill climb and some will opt-out. The future champions are gritting their teeth as they churn their weary legs up the hill.

3. Have a plan

You can’t just start running aimlessly. You need a plan to achieve your goals. Each day write out a daily plan on what you’d like to accomplish to guide your path toward success.

4. High-intensity training

“HIT” training increases your cardio capacity, in a business setting it increases your productivity. Carve outbursts of speed and go hard.

5. Rest

It’s better to have one day of rest than a string of half-speed days. Go hard and if you get burnt out – congratulations! Now rest so you can do it again.

6. Team up

Having a partner motivates you to push yourself. Get connected and set up a daily cadence of accountability with someone.

7. Hydrate

Tony Robbins focuses parts of his motivational speaking on something as rudimentary as hydration. It gives your body the nourishment it’s craving so you can run!

8. Have faith

To be successful you must believe in yourself. In the words of Journey, “don’t stop believing.”

Enjoy the journey. Dream. Struggle. Victory.
